Hederagenin: A Pentacyclic Triterpenoid with Many Biological Activities
Hederagenin is a pentacyclic triterpenoid. It is the aglycone part of numerous saponins found in Hedera helix, etc. and found in a variety of traditional medicines and food products. Reportedly, hederagenin and its glycosides (saponins) possess many biological activities such as anti-inflammatory1,2), antitumor3,4), antimutagenic5) and anticomplementary6) activities. Furthermore, hederagenin has been reported as a serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor.7) (The product is for research purpose only.)
