Application
Medetomidine Hydrochloride: A Potent α2-Adrenoceptor Agonist with Sedation and Analgesia
Medetomidine hydrochloride is a potent α2-adrenoceptor agonist which produces sedation and analgesia. Medetomidine is a mixture of R and S isomers, and the S form (or the D form known as dexmedetomidine hydrochloride [D5062]) is reported to be the active form. In animals, atipamezole (an α2-adrenoceptor antagonist) [A3259] is used for the reversal of the sedative and analgesic effects of the agonists, medetomidine and dexmedetomidine. (The product is for research purpose only.)
