Coupling Reagent
Typical Procedure: A solution of the carboxylic acid (1 mmol) and N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-S-(1-oxido-2-pyridyl)thiouronium hexafluorophosphate (1 mmol) in DMF (10 mL) is stirred at room temperature for 30 min. The corresponding amine (1 mmol) is added, and the resulting mixture is stirred at room temperature for 4 h. sat. NaCl is added, and the mixture is extracted with AcOEt. The organic layers are washed with 2 N HCl, sat. NaHCO3 and water. The organics are dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and evaporated (15 Torr) affording the corresponding pure amides.
