Telbivudine: An L-Nucleoside Analog of Thymidine with Antiviral Activity

Telbivudine is an L-nucleoside analog of thymidine [T0233] with antiviral activity. There are reports that telbivudine is a potent, specific and selective inhibitor of hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication. Telbivudine 5'-triphosphate inhibits HBV DNA polymerase (reverse transcriptase) by competing with the natural substrate, thymidine 5'-triphosphate. Incorporation of telbivudine 5'-triphosphate into viral DNA results in DNA chain termination. (The product is for research purpose only.)
