TCI Chemistry News

March 2024

TCI offers an extensive catalog of over 30,000 high quality organic reagents suitable for benchtop-to-bulk chemistry. This issue covers our chemistry topics as follows:

Air-Stable and Easy-to-Handle Nickel(0) Catalyst: Ni(COD)(DQ)

Air-Stable and Easy-to-Handle Nickel(0) Catalyst: Ni(COD)(DQ)

Ni(COD)(DQ) [N1198] (= (1,5-cyclooctadiene)(duroquinone)nickel(0)) is an air stable nickel(0) complex. Its use as a substitute for Ni(COD)2 complex, which is sensitive to air and heat, and its application to the synthesis of all-carbon tetrasubstituted alkenes have been reported. Piers Borane with High Lewis Acidity and Catalytic Hydroboration Activity

Piers Borane with High Lewis Acidity and Catalytic Hydroboration Activity

Piers borane [B6561] is a highly active catalyst for the hydroboration of alkenes and alkynes. B(C6F5)2 structure is a highly Lewis acidic unit and has been used in the synthesis of frustrated Lewis pairs with catalytic hydrogenation ability. Stilbene Ligand for Stereospecific Cross-Coupling Reactions

Stilbene Ligand for Stereospecific Cross-Coupling Reactions

Stereospecific cross-coupling reactions between tertiary alkyl pivalates and aryl boronic acids by using the stilbene ligand [E1539] and nickel catalysts has been reported.  The quaternary asymmetric carbon construction method in stereo retention is useful for the synthetic research of pharmaceutical intermediates. Spirobipyridine Ligand for meta-Selective C-H Borylation

Spirobipyridine Ligand for meta-Selective C-H Borylation

The spirobipyridine ligand [B6552] allows the the highly selective introduction of a boryl group at the meta-position of benzene ring. The selectivity is also applicable to common C-H borylation conditions. The steric structure of the Bpin moiety allows hydrogen atom in the meta-position of arene moiety preferentially approaches the metal center, resulting in the regioselectivity.
