Emodin is a natural occurring anthraquinone present in the roots and barks of numerous plants, molds, and lichens, and an active ingredient of various Chinese medicinal herbs. Emodin is a naturally occurring anthraquinone found in a variety of plants (e.g., rhubarb) used in traditional Chinese medicine.1,2) Purified emodin has been reported to possess diverse effects, including anti-oxidation, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory activities. Emodin is a pleiotropic molecule capable of interacting with several major molecular targets including, NF-κB, casein kinase II, HER2/neu, HIF-1α, AKT/mTOR, STAT3, CXCR4, topoisomerase II, p53, p21, and androgen receptors which are involved in inflammation and cancer.2-4) (The product is for research purpose only.)
