Synthesis of Phenanthridine Derivatives by Oxidative Cyclization of 2-Isocyanobiphenyls with Boronic Acids
Typical Procedure:
To an oven-dried 10 mL two-necked flask, isocyanide (0.30 mmol), phenylboronic acid (0.45 mmol), Mn(acac)3 (0.90 mmol) and toluene (2.0 mL) are added sequentially under a gentle stream of nitrogen. The mixture is stirred at 80 °C for 1 h under a nitrogen atmosphere. The reaction mixture is then cooled to room temperature and purified by column chromatography on silica gel to afford the desired product.
