Ceftizoxime: A Third Generation Semisynthetic Cephalosporin Antibiotic
Ceftizoxime is a third generation semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotic, which is chemically synthesized form 7-amino-3-nor-3-cephalosporanic acid. It has a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, and is generally more active against Gram-negative bacteria than the first and second generation cephalosporins.
