Prostaglandin E1: A Naturally Occurring Prostaglandin with Vasodilation and Anti-Platelet Aggregating Effects
Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) is produced by the theoretical metabolism of dihomo-y-linolenic acid (DGLA) [E0640] by the cyclooxygenase pathway.1) It has been reported that PGE1 has many pharmacological activities, such as vasodilation, anti-inflammatory, anti-platelet aggregation, protection of vascular endothelial cells, prevention of atherosclerosis, and so on.2) PGE1 is known to improve fluidity of blood through its vasodilation and anti-platelet aggregating effects. (The product is for research purpose only.)
