Aminopropylating Reagent

N-(3-Bromopropyl)carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (1) is a Boc-protected aminoalkyl halide, and widely used as an aminopropylating agent. As an example, dendrimer, bearing three amino functions at the terminal of propyl ether linkage of gallic acid ester, has been synthesized by reacting the latter with 1.¹⁾

This N-Boc alkyl halide has also been used as the spacer that connects triazacyclophane with peptide, and utilized extensively in the study of biomimetic synthetic receptor.²⁾
