競合的な抗コリンエステラーゼ阻害剤
Neostigmine methyl sulfate, a synthetic physostigmine analog, is a competitive cholinesterase inhibitor. Unlike the plant alkaloid physostigmine [P0406], neostigmine methyl sulfate has a quaternary nitrogen, hence it more polar and does not cross the blood-brain barrier. Neostigmine methyl sulfate induces an increase in acetylcholine (ACh) in the synaptic cleft through reversible inhibition of its hydrolysis by acetylcholinesterase (AChE), and activates peripheral cholinergic nervous system. Neostigmine methyl sulfate used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis and to reverse the effects of muscle relaxants such as tubocurarine [C0433] (The product is for research purpose only.)
