TODGA (N,N,N',N'-tetraoctyl-3-oxapentanediamide) is an effective extractant for rare-earth elements, developed by Sasaki et al. TODGA is highly lipophilic and ready to use in the HNO3(aq.)–n-dodecane extraction system. TODGA has high extractability of metal ions classified hard acids because of the oxygen donor atom centered in the backbones, complementary of soft ions extractant MIDOA [M2476]. TODGA is a widely used as an efficient metal extractant at nuclear reactors.
