(20S)-Protopanaxadiol: A Metabolic Derivative of Ginsenosides Used as an Apoptosis Inducer
(20S)-Protopanaxadiol is an aglycon metabolic derivative of ginsenosides (e.g. Rb1, Rc, Rd [G0550], and Rg3) which can be isolated from various plants, including Panax ginseng.1,2) It has been reported that (20S)-protopanaxadiol has a wide range of pharmacological effects, such as anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, and anti-depressant activities.1,3) In biological studies, (20S)-protopanaxadiol is used as an apoptosis inducer to induce cytotoxicity for human cancer cell lines.4-6) (The product is for research purpose only.)
