Application
Baicalein: A Flavonoid with Various Pharmacological Activities Including Antioxidant and Anti-Tumor Activities
Baicalein is a flavonoid and one of the major constituent of the root of Scutellaria baicalensis, as well as wogonin [W0010] and baicalin [B2835]. Baicalein possesses a multitude of pharmacological activities. It has been reported that baicalein is a potent free radical scavenger and xanthine oxidase inhibitor, thus improving endothelial function and conferring cardiovascular protective actions against oxidative stress-induced cell injury. Furthermore, baicalein has potent anti- inflammatory and anti-tumor activities. Baicalein is cytotoxic to various human tumor cell lines in vitro and inhibit tumor growth in vivo.
