Application
WWL 70: A Potent and Selective Inhibitor of ABHD6
Endogenous cannabinoids, such as anandamide [A3448] and 2-arachidonoyl glycerol (2-AG) [A3490], are biologically active lipids that activate the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2. Cannabinoid receptors, located throughout the body, are part of the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is involved in a variety of physiological processes.1) Endocannabinoid signaling is terminated by enzymatic hydrolysis, a process that for anandamide is mediated by fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), and for 2-AG is thought to involve monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) and Abhydrolase Domain Containing 6 (ABHD6). WWL 70 is a potent and selective inhibitor of ABHD6 and has been reported to raise mice brain 2-AG levels without altering anandamide and to attenuate neuropathic pain.2-4) (The product is for research use only.)
