Electrophilic Trifluoromethylation of Aromatics

Togni et al. have reported the electrophilic trifluoromethylation of aromatics using a hypervalent iodine trifluoromethylating reagent. According to their results, a trifluoromethyl group can be introduced into a variety of arenes and N-heteroarenes by using Togni reagent as a trifluoromethylating reagent. Depending on the individual substrates, additives are helpful in promoting the reactions.
