Ready-to-Use Cationic Polymer Solution for Gene Transfection
Linear polyethyleneimine hydrochloride (= linear PEI) is a cationic polymer widely used throughout the fields of biochemistry, molecular, and cell biology for gene transfection. At neutral pH, the polymer backbone of linear PEI is positively charged, which allows it to associate with the negatively charged phosphate backbone of DNA to form a complex. When applied to cells, this complex is taken up into endosomes through the action of linear PEI, which is also responsible for later endosomal escape as endosomal pH drops.1) Linear PEI then dissociates from its bound DNA in a poorly understood process, which leaves free DNA to be transcribed and translated into protein in the same way as endogenous DNA.2) TCI's linear PEI has undergone near-complete deacylation of its polymer backbone, meaning a higher transfection efficiency and lower cytotoxicity than our competitors.3) Linear PEI is dissolved at an easy-to-use concentration (1 mg/mL) in PBS (pH 7.0), after which it is filter sterilized through a 0.22 µm PVDF filter and tested for the presence of mycoplasma and endotoxins for your peace of mind.
