Sodium Electrolytes Useful for Sodium-Ion Battery Research
Sodium bis(oxalato)borate (NaBOB, 1) and sodium difluoro(oxalato)borate (NaDFOB, 2) are sodium electrolytes useful for sodium-ion battery research. Sodium-ion batteries have been widely developed as cost-effective and scalable energy storage solutions due to the ubiquitous nature of sodium resources and their similarity to commercially successful lithium-ion batteries.1) 1 is expected to serve as a sodium-ion battery electrolyte with higher thermal stability than the commonly used sodium hexafluorophosphate.2,3) 2, which exhibits higher solubility, is also anticipated as a sodium electrolyte4) and has attracted attention as an electrolyte additive contributing to the formation of a favorable SEI (solid electrolyte interphase) layer: a film mainly formed during charging at the interface between the anode and the electrolyte.5)
