Benzoquinone Derivative Useful for the Development of Energy Storage Materials
2,3,5,6-Tetraamino-1,4-benzoquinone (TABQ) is a benzoquinone building block useful for the development of energy storage materials. For instance, 2,3,7,8-tetraamino-5,10-dihydrophenazine-1,4,6,9-tetraone (1), synthesized through the condensation of two molecules of TABQ, has been reported as a promising organic cathode material for aqueous zinc batteries and lithium-ion batteries, due to its high electrical conductivity derived from electron delocalization and redox activity of carbonyl groups.1,2) Additionally, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and polymers using TABQ as a precursor have also been reported.3,4) Because of its low solubility in electrolytes, TABQ itself has been reported as a cathode material for aqueous zinc batteries.5)
