Photo- and Thermal-Acid Generators with Organogallium Anion
Photo- or thermal-acid generators containing the counter anion of organogallium (Ga(C6F5)4−) can generate a strong acid upon decomposition, comparable in strength to hexafluoroantimonic acid (HSbF6). On the other hand, compared to SbF6 salts, Ga(C6F5)4 salts are less likely to produce hydrogen fluoride (HF), resulting in lower metal corrosivity to surrounding materials. Additionally, Ga(C6F5)4 salts offer the advantage of lower discoloration of cured resins under high-temperature heating. Furthermore, Ga(C6F5)4 salts exhibit lower toxicity than SbF6 salts.
