Reagent for Perovskite Solar Cells: Purified Lead(II) Iodide

A study on a perovskite solar cell recently receives much attention. At a main part of the solar cell, the organic-inorganic perovskite semiconductor (MeNH3PbI3) can functionalize as an absorption layer. Use of a purified lead(II) iodide is a key to fabricate efficient perovskite solar cell devices.

This material was produced by collaboration with Prof. Atsushi Wakamiya at Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University
- Lead(II) iodide with extremely low water quantity for preparing a concentrated clear DMF solution.
- Fabricates efficient perovskite solar cell devices (PCE > 10%) with high reproducibility.

A Practical Crystalline Carbon Monoxide Surrogate

Manabe et al. have reported that 2,4,6-trichlorophenyl formate is a highly reactive and easily accessible crystalline carbon monoxide (CO) surrogate in synthetic organic chemistry. 2,4,6-Trichlorophenyl formate undergoes facile decarbonylation in the presence of trialkylamine to afford CO and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol. The in situ generated CO and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol are successfully applied to the Pd-catalyzed carbonylation of aryl/alkenyl halides and triflates to give their 2,4,6-trichlorophenol ester. The obtained trichlorophenyl esters can be readily converted to a variety of carboxylic acid derivatives by using various nucleophiles.

Trolox, a Standard Antioxidant used for Antioxidant Capacity Assays

Many food ingredients like polyphenols have antioxidative activity such as a free radical scavenging ability etc., which is evaluated by measuring its potential in vitro.1,2) Antioxidant capacity assays can be classified into two types based on HAT (hydrogen atom transfer) reactions and ET (electron transfer) reactions. HAT-based assays include the ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance) method3,4) analyzing the fluorescent intensity of fluorescein decomposed by a peroxy radical sourced from AAPH (2,2'-azobis(2-methylpropionamidine) dihydrochloride), and the TRAP (total radical trapping antioxidant parameter) method5) analyzing the fluorescent intensity of luminol oxidized by a similar peroxy radical. ET-based assays include the DPPH method6) analyzing DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) colorimetrically, and the TEAC (trolox equivalence antioxidant capacity) method7) analyzing
ABTS (2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid ammonium salt))
colorimetrically, and so on.

Trolox is a water-soluble antioxidant, which was synthesized as a vitamin E derivative in 1974.8) Trolox has been used as a standard antioxidant for these antioxidant capacity assays.

Chromatography -Analysis of Tranexamic acid by TCI Dual series

Tranexamic acid is an amino acid analog with high hydrophilicity. However, with TCI Dual series, successful separation can be performed easily without any ion-pair reagents.
This application is also suitable for LC-MS by using volatile buffers.
