[Featured Products] Novel Highly-sensitive Fluorescent Probes

Europium fluorophore DTBTA-Eu3+ labeled secondary antibodies (G0505, G0506) and streptavidin (S0993) have various features derived from DTBTA-Eu3+. Highly-sensitive detection with one order of magnitude compared to those of conventional fluorometric assays can be expected, since the background fluorescence from the sample matrix can be removed by time-resolved fluorometric measurement.

Reductive Synthesis of Nitrones from N-Hydroxyamides Using an Iridium Catalyst

  Chida et al. have reported the reductive synthesis of nitrones from N-hydroxyamides using an iridium catalyst. According to their results, by using Vaska's catalyst [IrCl(CO)(PPh3)2] and 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane, N-hydroxyamides are successfully transformed into the corresponding nitrones by two different types of reactions involving dehydrosilylations and hydrosilylations. This reaction shows high chemoselectivity even when various sensitive functional groups such as methyl esters are employed. Furthermore, it can be applied to the synthesis of macrocyclic nitrones, which are known to be difficult to synthesize by conventional methods. Since the obtained nitrones are promising key intermediates for the synthesis of biologically active compounds, this synthetic method has attracted considerable attention.

Useful Hypervalent Iodine Compound for the Introduction of an Ethynyl Group

1-[(Trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]-1,2-benziodoxol-3(1H)-one (TMS-EBX) is a mild ethynylating reagent for which various examples of ethynylations have been reported. For instance, in the presence of TBAF, TMS-EBX reacts with active methylene compounds such as 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds or α-nitro carbonyl compounds and an ethynylation proceeds at the methylene moieties.1) Furthermore, this reagent is applied to total synthesis of natural products and the synthesis of (-)-lingzhiol2) and (+)-batzelladine3) have been reported as examples. In this way, the ethynylation reaction using TMS-EBX can be applied for further chemical functionalization of ethynes and click chemistry, so that it is expected to be used widely.
