[Featured Product] V886: Novel Hole Transport Material (HTM) for Perovskite Solar Cell

Research on perovskite solar cell recently receives much attention. Among them, we have to develop excellent hole transport materials (HTM). Nazeeruddin et al. have reported a novel HTM containing carbazole structures, V886 (V0146). Some advantages of V886 are the simple synthetic pathway at a low cost and higher glass transition temperature compared with those of Spiro-MeOTAD. The power conversion efficiency of a perovskite solar cell using V886 was 16.91% as reported in 2015, which was comparable with that of a Spiro-MeOTAD device (18.36%).

Chiral Hypervalent Iodine(III) Catalyzed Enantioselective Diacetoxylation of Styrenes

Muñiz and Ishihara et al. have reported the enantioselective diacetoxylation of styrene derivatives using chiral hypervalent iodine catalysts. According to their report, a chiral hypervalent iodine compound (1) is in situ prepared from (R,R)-2-iodo-1,3-bis[1-(mesitylcarbamoyl)ethoxy]benzene and peracetic acid, and used as a chiral catalyst for the enantioselective dioxygenation of styrene leading to the corresponding vicinal diacetoxylation product. In this reaction, the amide groups of the chiral catalyst 1 engage in intramolecular hydrogen bonding with the acetoxy groups at the iodine(III) center to force the formation of ideal asymmetric environment which plays a significant role in the enantioselective intermolecular reaction.

Water-soluble Ligand for Bioorthogonal Click Reactions

Tris(3-hydroxypropyltriazolylmethyl)amine (THPTA) is a water-soluble ligand, which is synthesized by the click reaction (= Hüisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction) using tripropargyl amine and 3-azido-1-propanol.1) In the presence of a copper ion, THPTA can be applied to Cu-catalyzed alkyne-azide cyclization (CuAAC), the typical bioorthogonal reaction with non-interferance in living systems. By forming a copper complex it will accelerate the CuAAC process.2) Therefore, CuAAC using THPTA is applicable to not only the modification of hydrophilic polymers3) and the bioconjugation of peptides containing an azido group,4) but also the rapid labeling of metabolically-incorporated azido or alkyne tags on living cell surfaces.5)
