A Pro-Drug of 5-Aminosalicylic Acid, Balsalazide

Balsalazide is the prodrug of 5-aminosalicylic acid [A0317] and 4-aminobenzoyl-beta-alanine (an inert carrier), which are released by bacterial enzymes in the colon.
