Application

Exemestane: A Potent and Selective Aromatase Inhibitor

Exemestane, anastrozole [A2370] and letrozole [L0248] are third generation, and potent and selective aromatase inhibitors. Aromatase is responsible enzyme for the aromatization of androgens ([A0845] and [T0027]) into estrogens ([E0026] and [E0025]) respectively in the periphery. Exemestane, anastrozole and letrozole inhibit aromatase and estrogen synthesis, resulting in suppressing tumor growth. Exemestane alone or a combination agent with tamoxifen citrate [T2510] is used for the treatment for postmenopausal women with breast cancer. (The product is for research purpose only.)
