Zero-length Crosslinkers

Zero-length Crosslinkers are the smallest available reagents for bioconjugation; they facilitate conjugation of two molecules by forming a bond containing no additional atoms. Zero-length Crosslinkers include carbodiimides like EDC (EDAC, 1-(3-Dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide) [D1601][D4029], CMC (1-Cyclohexyl-3-(2-morpholinoethyl)carbodiimide) [C0793] , DCC (N,N'-Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide) [D0436], DIC (N,N'-Diisopropylcarbodiimide) [D0254], as well as CDI (1,1'-Carbonyldiimidazole) [C0119] and others. Zero-length Crosslinkers commonly used for peptide bond formation between amino group and carboxyl group. EDC is often used in combination with NHS/Sulfo-NHS. Zero-length Crosslinkers are also used in preparation of PEGylation agents, crosslinkers, biotinylation agents and other applications where intervening linkers or spacers may be detrimental to the intended use (for instance in the preparation of hapten-carrier conjugates).
