High-purity Silane Coupling Agent: Octadecyltrichlorosilane (>99.0%)

Surface modification by a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) is a useful technique in many research fields. Alkylsilane-based SAM agents have been particularly applied to organic field effect transistors (OFETs) with glass insulators and have contributed to the improvement of their performances. TCI has recently commercialized the highly pure octadecyltrichlorosilane (ODTS) (>99%) [T3815]. Some advantages of T3815 include possessing extreme low levels of any branched and short alkylsilane impurities, being readily available to use for production of high-quality SAM films, and exhibiting higher carrier mobility.

Neutral pH Aqueous Redox Flow Battery Material: FcNCl

Redox flow batteries (RFB) are suitable for large scale energy storage systems, particularly due to their safety and long duration cycling. While conventional RFBs are high-cost and have limited renewability, organic redox flow batteries (ORFB) takes advantage of organic active materials that are renewable and more cost effective. Within an ORFB system, two solutions of organic active materials are pumped into cell stacks from separate tanks with the charge/discharge redox cycle occurring through a porous anion-exchange membrane. The catholyte solution can include a highly water-soluble metal complex such as (Ferrocenylmethyl)trimethylammonium Chloride, FcNCl [F1231].

Quinacridone Dyes

Quinacridone dyes were originally used as red pigments with features like clear coloring and good durability. In organic electronics, quinacridones are applied to solar cells and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) as they are a strong luminescent when in solution and very useful for luminescent dopant materials (also in solid state). In order to prevent quenching of emission via intermolecular hydrogen bonding, we introduce a group on the nitrogen atom. As quinacridones are poorly soluble, their solubility can be enhanced via introduction of shorter alkyl groups. TCI also offers the dyes purified by sublimation, [Q0083] and [D3227] respectively.

Solubility Enhancing Reagents

Solubility Enhancing Reagents

Alkyl groups don't affect molecular electronic properties simply because their interaction with π-conjugates is weak. However, the effect of alkyl groups is largely within the molecule-assembled solid state, modifying solubility and melting point whenever introduced. In particular, organic electronics requires alkyl derivatizations to increase solubility, because solution-processable printing technologies are vital for large scale manufacturing.
