Hydrotrope research
Hydrotropes are small molecules able to enhance the solubility of hydrophobic substances in aqueous media. Their water-solubility can significantly enhance the solubility of organic solutes such as esters, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, hydrocarbons, and fats.1) 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate has been reported to enhance the solubility of chitin (C0072) and amphotericin B (A2114).2,3)
