SB 203580: A Cell-Permeable and Specific p38 MAPK Inhibitor
Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) mediate signal transduction from cell surface receptors to the nucleus. p38 MAPK, a subtype of MAPK, is activated responsive to stress stimuli, such as cytokines, ultraviolet irradiation, heat shock, and osmotic shock, and are involved in cell differentiation, apoptosis and autophagy. SB 203580 is a cell-permeable p38 MAPK inhibitor that specifically blocks its kinase activity. Therefore, SB 203580 is widely used to elucidate the role of p38 MAPK in a wide array of biological systems.
