Application
Dabigatran: A Reversible Direct Thrombin Inhibitor
Dabigatran is a reversible direct thrombin inhibitor, and an active metabolite of dabigatran etexilate [D5904]. Thrombin enables the conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin during the blood coagulation cascade. The inhibition prevents the development of a thrombus. Therefore, thrombin-induced platelet aggregation are inhibited by the active metabolite, dabigatran. In clinical, it is used as an alternative to warfarin [W0005] and does not require monitoring of blood coagulation parameters by blood tests. (The product is for research purpose only.)
