			Application

Alcohol inversion using cesium acetate and DMAP

Typical procedure: CsOAc (12.5 g) and DMAP (160 mg) are added to the alcohol nosylate 1 (4.4g) in dry toluene (100 mL). The solution is refluxed for 8h, cooled, filtered through Celite, and concentrated under reduce pressure. The resulting slurry is diluted with EtOAc, washed with water, brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated to give the inverted acetate 2 (2.2 g, 85 %).
