Tavaborole: A Boron-Containing Antifungal Agent with Aminoacyl-tRNA Synthetase Inhibiting Action
Tavaborole (AN-2690) is a boron-containing antifungal agent with a unique mechanism of action. It is reported that tavaborole inhibits fungal protein synthesis by inhibition of an aminoacyl-transfer ribonucleic acid (tRNA) synthetase (AARS), which catalyze the attachment of the correct amino acid to its corresponding tRNA during translation of the genetic code. Tavaborole approved by FDA for the treatment of onychomycosis in 2014. (The product is for research purpose only.)
