Application
Orbifloxacin: A Synthetic Fluoroquinolone Antibacterial Agent to Use for Livestock and Domestic Pets
Orbifloxacin is a synthetic fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent with in vitro activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, enterobacteriaceae, anaerobes, and mycobacteria. Orbifloxacin was developed as a veterinary chemotherapeutic to use for livestock and domestic pets. Like other fluoroquinolones, the bactericidal action of orbifloxacin results from inhibition of the topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) in Gram-negative bacteria and topoisomerase IV in Gram-positive bacteria required for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. (The product is for research purpose only.)
