Emtricitabine (FTC): a Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor (NRTI)
Emtricitabine (FTC) is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) that has activity against both human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV). FTC, after phosphorylated by cellular enzymes to emtricitabine 5'-triphosphate (FTC-TP), inhibits HIV and HBV reverse transcriptase (HIV-RT and HBV-RT).
