Application
5-Fluorouracil (5-FU): An Antitumor Antimetabolite with Activity against Numerous Types of Neoplasms
5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is an antitumor antimetabolite with activity against numerous types of neoplasms. Further, many prodrugs of 5-FU have been developed to increased plasma and tumor 5-FU concentrations and to improve the cytotoxicity, such as capecitabine [C2878], doxifluridine [D3579], carmofur [C2663], tegaful [F0635], UFT (tegafur and uracil [U0013]) and S-1 (tegafur, gimeracil [C2243] and potassium oxonate [O0164]).
