At TCI, we support discovery in life sciences through our knowledge and expertise in organic small molecules. This issue covers our life science topics as follows:
Glucose Measurement Kit
Living organisms utilize glucose as their primary source of energy, making it an important metabolic indicator, especially in the study of sugars and lipids. Additionally, cancer cells are known to consume an elevated amount of glucose compared to normal cells, making it equally important in the study of cancer metabolism. Glucose Measurement Kit [G0656] can accurately measure the concentration of glucose in samples such as serum samples and cell culture supernatants.
Electrophoresis Reagents
Electrophoresis is a technique which separates charged biomolecules based on the rate at which they migrate in an applied electrical field. In many cases, electrophoresis of proteins are performed using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). For molecular weight estimation and purity determination of proteins, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-PAGE is frequently employed. TCI has a wide variety of electrophoresis reagents. For examples, there are gel staining reagents such as Silver Stain Kit [I1309], gel negative-staining kit such as Gel Negative Stain kit [G0615], and methanol-free CBB stain solution such as Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250 (Ready-to-use solution) [C3488].
Xanthine / Hypoxanthine Assay Kit
The two purine bases xanthine and hypoxanthine can be found in most tissues and biological fluids. Xanthine is produced during the digestion of purine to uric acid by the action of xanthine oxidase. Xanthine / Hypoxanthine Assay Kit [X0094] measures the xanthine / hypoxanthine concentration of biological samples upon comparison with a xanthine standard solution.
Endogenous Biotin-Blocking Reagent Useful for Immunostaining
Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, acts as a coenzyme in the energy metabolism of amino acids and fatty acids in vivo. High concentrations of biotin in tissues such as kidney, liver, and mammary tissue can lead to high background in avidin/biotin-based immunostaining. Avidin / biotin blocking kit [A3655] suppresses non-specific staining caused by endogenous biotin by using the included avidin solution and biotin solution. Each solution is contained in a dropper bottle, allowing for easy and accurate operation.
