Application
Taurolidine: An Anti-Bacterial Agent with Anti-Tumor Effects
Taurolidine consists of two taurinamide rings derived from the aminosulfoacid taurine. Taurolidine was first developed as an anti-bacterial agent against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, mycobacteria and some fungi.1,2) In clinical, taurolidine is mainly used in the treatment of peritonitis. In the 2000s, it has also been reported that taurolidine shows anti-tumor effects, such as anti-angiogenetic and apoptosis-inducing effects.3,4) (The product is for research purpose only.)
