Application
An Epoxidation of Alkenes using H2O2 (aq.) and 2,2,2-Trifluoroacetophenone
Typical Procedure (Entry 1): 1-Phenyl-1-cyclohexene (158 mg, 1.0 mmol) is placed in a round-bottom flask followed by 2,2,2-trifluoroacetophenone (9.0 mg, 0.05 mmol). tert-Butyl alcohol (1.5 mL), aqueous buffer solution (1.5 mL, 0.6 M K2CO3, 4×10－5 M EDTA tetrasodium salt), acetonitrile (0.11 mL, 2.0 mmol), and 30% aqueous H2O2 (0.23 mL, 2.0 mmol) are added consecutively. The reaction mixture is allowed to stir for 1 h at room temperature. The crude product is purified using flash column chromatography to afford 1-phenyl-7-oxabicyclo[4.1.0]heptane (173 mg, yield 99%) as a colorless oil.
