Tabersonine: An Indole Alkaloid with Neuroprotective Properties
Tabersonine is an indole alkaloid found in the beans of Voacanga africana, a plant traditionally used for religious purposes in Africa. There are reports that tabersonine exhibits specific and synergistic multiple neuroprotective properties, including inhibition of amyloid beta (Aβ) fibril-induced cytotoxicity.1,2) Tabersonine is also an intermediate in the biological and chemical synthesis of indole alkaloids, including the anticancer agent vincristine [V0129].1,3,4) (The product is for research purpose only.)
