Cell Cycle Analysis Kit without Pre-Fixation
The cell cycle is a major target for various therapies, as it is directly responsible for cell proliferation. Cell cycle analysis is therefore an important tool for studying not only how cells proliferate, but also the therapeutic mechanisms underlying its regulation. The classic cell cycle assay requires cells to be pre-fixed with ethanol and treated with RNase, before finally being stained with DAPI or propidium iodide and analyzed. Depending on the cell line being used and the needs of the experimenter these extra steps can take anywhere from several hours to an entire day. However, the Cell Cycle Assay Kit (Red) [C3851] uses a special surfactant to permeabilize the cell membrane just enough for a DNA-specific fluorescent dye (7-AAD, λex, max = 549 nm, λem, max = 648 nm) to enter without DNA leaving the cell. In this way, analysis of the cell cycle can be performed without pre-fixation. Just collect your cells-of-interest, incubate with the included buffer / dye for as little as 15 minutes, and measure.
Erastin: Inducer of Ferroptosis
Ferroptosis was reported by Stockwell et al. in 2012 as iron-dependent cell death mechanism separate from apoptosis. Ferroptosis is thought to be involved in various diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases and ischemia-reperfusion injury. Erastin [E1524] induces ferroptosis by inhibiting cystine uptake into the cell by the cystine transporter and decreasing the intracellular concentration of the antioxidant glutathione.
Malondialdehyde Measurement Kit
Malondialdehyde (MDA), known as a degradation product of lipid peroxides, is used as a quantitative indicator of intracellular oxidative stress. Malondialdehyde measurement kit [M3637] helps to determine the malondialdehyde content by the Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances (TBARS) method.
Linear PEI for Gene Transfection
Polyethyleneimine is a commonly used non-viral vector for gene transfection. We offer Linear PEI HCl [1mg/mL in PBS(-)] [for Transfection] [L0466] as a filter-sterilized ready-to-use solution. This product is deacylated for high transfection efficiency, and has negligible cytotoxicity.
