Application
An Inhibitor of DNA Methylation
The cytidine analogs 5-azacytidine and 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine [A2232] are inhibitors of DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) which catalyze the transfer of a methyl group to DNA. DNA methylation is an epigenetic factor and plays an important role in regulating gene expression. 5-Azacytidine and 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine are the currently most advanced agents for epigenetic cancer therapies.
