Application
Pipamperone: A Typical Antipsychotic Agent with the Antagonist Properties at 5-HT2A and D4 Receptors

Pipamperone (floropipamide) is a first-generation (typical) antipsychotic agent that belongs to the butyrophenone type, and used for the treatment of schizophrenia. The precise mechanism of action is unknown, but in vitro studies indicate that pipamperone possesses more potent antagonist properties at serotonin 5-HT2A and dopamine D4 than dopamine D2 receptors, and the antagonisms may be related to the therapeutic effect.
