Application
Cefditoren pivoxil: A Third-Generation Cephalosporin with Antibacterial Effects against PRSP and BLNAR
Cefditoren pivoxil is a prodrug of the third-generation cephalosporin that is rapidly hydrolyzed by intestinal esterases to the microbiologically active cephalosporin cefditoren. Cefditoren has broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including common respiratory and skin pathogens. Cefditoren has potent antibacterial effects against penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (PRSP) and β-lactamase-non-producing-ampicillin resistant (BLNAR) Haemophilus influenzae among the oral β-lactam antibiotics. However, cefditoren does not have antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.For your reference, [M2411] is a synthetic intermediates of cefditoren pivoxil.
