(-)-Borneol: A Bicyclic Monoterpene with Various Activities
(-)-Borneol, a bicyclic monoterpene with sublimation property, is found in the essential oils of medicinal herbs. (-)-Borneol has shown various activities, such as antimicrobial activities, enhancing drug permeability, and increasing cell viability.1,2) (-)-Borneol is also used as a synthetic intermediate of chiral ionic liquid and a fragrance ingredient.1,3) In addition, (-)-borneol and its enantiomer (+)-borneol [B6417] are found to have a highly efficacious positive modulating action at GABAA receptors.4) (The product is for research purpose only.)
