Toepassing
Chlorthalidone: A Thiazide Diuretic with Antihypertensive Activity
Chlorthalidone is a thiazide diuretic with antihypertensive activity. Chlorthalidone inhibits sodium reabsorption at the level of the distal convoluted tubule and thus chloride reabsorption via inhibition of the Na/Cl symporter. Although the mechanism of action of chlorthalidone is not fully understood, sodium and water depletion appears to provide a basis for its antihypertensive effect.
