Chlortetracycline Hydrochloride: A Tetracycline Antibiotic with Broad-Spectrum Antibacterial and Antiprotozoal Activities
Chlortetracycline hydrochloride is a tetracycline antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial and antiprotozoal activities. It was first isolated from the culture of Streptomyces sp. in 1949. It is bacteriostatic and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and cell growth by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing the addition of amino acids to the growing peptide chain. (The product is for research purpose only.)
