Chelerythrine Chloride: A Cell-Permeable Protein Kinase C
Chelerythrine chloride is a benzophenanthridine alkaloid isolated from roots of F. zanthoxyloides.1) Chelerythrine chloride is a cell-permeable inhibitor of protein kinase C (IC50 = 660 nM) that does not inhibit tyrosine protein kinases, cAMP-dependent protein kinase, or calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase.2) It has been reported that chelerythrine chloride induces apoptotic cell death of cancer cells.3-6)
