Sertraline Hydrochloride: A Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI)
Sertraline hydrochloride is a selective serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT [S0370]) reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that has only very weak effects on norepinephrine [A0906] and dopamine [A0305] neuronal reuptake. in vitro studies have shown that sertraline has no significant affinity for adrenergic (α1, α2, β), cholinergic, GABA, dopaminergic, histaminergic, serotonergic (5HT1A, 5HT1B, 5HT2), or benzodiazepine receptors. In addition, sertraline has minimal inhibitory effects on the major cytochrome P450 enzymes, and few drug-drug interactions of clinical significance have been documented. (The product is for research purpose only.)
