Biofilm research

Susceptibility of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, strain 310a, biofilm to tetracycline has been reported. Adding 0.1 or 1 mg/L of the antibiotic significantly inhibited the biofilm formation in the early phase, but not in the mature phase.1) Although adding 10 mg/L of the antibiotic reduced biofilm development in the early phase, it enhanced biofilm development in the mature phase.
