Application
Pargyline: An Irreversible Selective MAO-B Inhibitor.
Monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) is a mitochondrial outer membrane flavoenzyme, which keeps the norepinephrine concentration in the axoplasm low. Therefore, MAO-B is a well-known target for antidepressant and neuroprotective agents. Pargyline is an irreversible selective MAO-B inhibitor. Pargyline is used to treat moderate to severe hypertension. Currently, pargyline is used as an antiparkinson agent. (The product is for research purpose only.)
